Great History
Since our charter began in 1907, we have welcomed thousands of banking relationships in the Arizona, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota areas. We have not only grown in locations, but have become one of the largest, independently-owned banks in the area. With assets over $3.4 billion and over 100 banking locations, we’ve gained significant regional presence while serving many communities, and have been under the same ownership for over 35 years. We are the flagship of the family-owned Great Western Bancorporation – one of the top five holding companies in the Midwest.

Great Community
Great Western Bank has continued to expand and develop a strong sense of community along the way. Our employees engage in a wide range of community service, from volunteering time and donating to local organizations, to serving on boards of civic and non-profit organizations. We believe in helping children through education by partnering with public schools and providing scholarship funding.

We have long been known for our strength in commercial lending and are a lender of choice for companies in many industries. This is just another way we’re helping to build and strengthen the communities we serve.

Great Future

On January 14, 2007 Great Western Bank charters based in Omaha, NE and Clive, IA merged with the Great Western Bank charter in Sioux Falls, SD, putting all locations under one operating system. This merger gives customers the capability to transact all of their banking business in six states: Arizona, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. This banking network also provides access to over 100 ATMs and 15 in-store locations, offering extended banking hours for their convenience.

Customers will benefit from a legal lending limit in excess of $46 million and our ability to continue to make local loan decisions in a quick and timely manner. In addition, Great Western Bank becomes a stronger and safer financial institution with the combined capital of the three banks.
